BUTCHER JONES TRAIL

This week we chose to join Fred's hiking group and go to Butcher Jones Park near Saguaro Lake about a half an hours ride out of town. So eight of us set out on another sunny warm morning (about 9am) for what I thought would be an all day hike.  The scenery was beautiful and the trail easy to manage.  About 11am the gentleman ahead of me commented that he hoped that Fred realized that it was getting late and we should be heading back. I was thinking that we had barely started and it puzzled me that we were about to turn back already.  When we stopped for a water break, I discovered that there was an reason and urgency why the group was turning back.  The "GUYS" had a golfing tee time to be back for!!!!   Since Alistair and I had brought our scooter we continued on with the hike while the others turned back.

We did not even hike the entire distance around the lake.  We turned back after a couple of hours knowing that we had another 2 hours yet to traverse.  We plan to return one day when we can get an earlier start and finish the entire trip.  (yeah....right!!)
