Visited South Padre Island, a narrow short Island in the Gulf just to see what it was like. Very big for summer vacations. Lots of hotels, RV residents, souvenir and assorted beach wear/gear shops. We drove past the small inhabited part down the centre of the island that must be only 500 yards wide and all sand. The only thing you see is the road, sand, water and birds. Very beautiful place and quite unique.
We stopped at the U of Texas Coastal Studies Laboratory for a tour and to learn about what birds and critters were native to the area.
Then we ate the BEST grilled shrimp at a place called "Dirty Al's Bar and Restaurant" .......and OF COURSE had to buy the T-shirt for Alistair!!!! The blue goes nice with his eyes.:o)))))
