The SMOKY MOUNTAINS

We decided to tour the Smokey Mountains on our scooter.  It is harder for me to take photos, but seeing the sights is always so much better from the back of our "Hardley Dangerous" than in a car or RV.  I took a ton of pictures, all of them fabulous, so it was difficult to pick out the best of them.  But here is a sample of what we saw and we highly recommend a trip there.

One of the only US National Parks that you do not have to pay to visit.

Just imagine what a beautiful place this would be in the fall, with all the colourful leaves....

Near the bottom of the hills, the trees are mainly deciduous, with more conifers as the altitude increases.

The low hanging clouds gives the Mountains their name.

Clingmans Dome is off the main road and there is a fabulous view of mountain tops and some hiking trails.

We left the Dome and headed for lower altitudes.

Love the stone guard rails on the older roads and higher hill tops.

We went through several tunnels on our journey through the mountains.

Our tour took us most of the day, so we had to save visiting "Cades Cove", the state park, (also part of the Smokies), for another day!
