SUNDAY BRUNCH, SAVANNAH RIVERBOAT CRUISE

The walk way down to the river front was just as lovely as the rest of the city.

You have to walk down a fair way to reach the Savannah River Front.

Mostly all done in cobblestone, the road was rough and only a few cars were even allowed to drive and park down on the river road.

Our cruise ship for the Sunday Brunch was at dock.  The "Savannah River Queen" was a nice size for an afternoon cruise up and down the river.

We were served a delicious Brunch at a table by the window and enjoyed ourselves very much.
Alistair is waving his drink glass around hoping a waiter will notice that it needs refilling.
(with beer.....of course)

I had lemonade, fresh squeezed and delicious!!

Then we went up on deck to see the view and the weather co-operated giving us a nice day.....not too hot or humid.

 Mary with C3P0"s brother......C4P0.

The Ships Dining Room were we ate brunch.  You can barely see Alistair cause a lady's arm is in his face!!

View of the 2nd River Boat available for tours up and down the river called the "Georgian Queen", and a tug boat.

River side view of the old Cotton Exchange Building.....no longer used for cotton trade...

Alistair is keeping track of me..............

Lets get a little closer so we get a better view of all the old age lines and wrinkles......

The new "Typee Bridge" in the distance.  Connects the Island of Typee to Savannah on the mainland.

A good river side view of City Hall.

A closer view of the new bridge...

We  took a ride up the river and under the bridge then back down river past downtown, for awhile.

River View of Savannah's water front.  It is lined with restaurants, bars, shops of every kind and souvenir vendors.  Lots to do and see.

Closer view of City Hall from the boat.

Beautiful statue of a girl and her faithful dog.  As the story goes, she was the sister of a light house keeper and she would wave a sheet in a gesture of greeting, at every ship that entered the Port of Savannah, every day until she died.

Atlanta "Olympic Torch".  The Olympics was held in Atlanta, but since there is no venue for the rowing event, it was held in Savannah in the River.

Where I bought my first "I'M A SOUTHERN BELLE" hat........that I just LOVE!!!!!!
                                                      and others noticed too!

I think my new found PIRATE friend liked my hat too!!!!

He told Alistair that he was "one lucky bastard!" to have won me!!!  I think I will faint with all this attention.......(he even SOUNDED like Johnny Depp)

I took this photo for my good friend Allan, who LOVES to Golf!!!!  I would have bought one   for you Al but the price was ridiculously high.

And this one is for my sister Donna who is a rooster "collector"!!  But practical.......I think not.:o)

Florence Martus 1869-1943 she was and is "Savannah's Waving Girl".

                                                            Showing off my new HAT!

                                    A TRULY BEAUTIFUL, PEACEFUL PLACE

  1. You are bringing back great memories! We went to Savannah after we met you guys in Galveston but we arrived on the Friday night start of the St. Patrick's Day celebration which lasted four days!

The streets were crammed with green drunks and the only RV park with room for us was way out of town and cost $65 per night. We would love to go back when we could actually "see" the city. I love "The South"!
